Wesley Brundige
Running for:
Vice President
Senior Board (Negotiating Committee)
Why do you want to be Vice President?
I am running for Vice President because I believe in servitude leadership, and I think we are in dire need of it. Servitude leadership is not about what you can do for your leader, but what your leader can do for you. I also believe that we need people on our board that aren’t afraid to get involved with our membership to build the community among us, and I have already been acting on that by helping on the election committee, the audit committee, and Chairing the Women’s Committee. Our Executive Board should have their hand in every aspect of our local, lead by example, and not just be present at the monthly meetings because they have to be.
What are your goals if you become Vice President?
If I become Vice President my job is to assist the President and step in when they are unable to be present or if they are unable to continue their role as president. In addition to that, I want to be involved in our membership. I think we as members are really important, and I truly care about what our members want and need from us as their board. I also intend to assist the President with getting all companies represented by our local involved in our monthly meetings and events. I want to ensure that all members feel like they have a voice and that the meetings add value to their lives no matter which company they work for. I also will make sure we are able to get more people to vote in future elections by incorporating electronic voting into our bylaws and taking the steps to make it a reality. Currently, people do have an option for an absentee ballot if they live more than 25 miles away, but it doesn’t get utilized as much as it could. An electronic voting process would allow people to vote remotely as well as be able to have results in a more timely manner. I also intend to ensure all of our members are prepared for when they negotiate their next contract with their companies, because as we all saw with the most recent Boeing strike, if we are all prepared we can show our companies that we aren’t afraid to fight for what we deserve.
Why should the membership choose you over the other candidates?
The membership should vote for me over any other candidate because I have already shown the care and commitment I can put forward to our membership over the past couple of years. I work 3/12 weekends and I attend both the day shift and swing shift meetings every month even though that is considered my weekend, not because I have to but because I want to. I also listen to our members and what they need, and as a steward I have always been available for those that need help even on my own time.
Additional information you’d like the membership to know?
There are so many goals and things I can do and bring to the table by being Vice President, and it is hard to put that into a short amount of words for a profile. I ask you to reach out to me, talk with me, and talk to all of the candidates who are running for different positions. This election will determine how our future can go, and we need people who can move us forward and out of the past. We need people who actually care about the people and not just the recognition or power they think they have by holding positions. We need people who are committed to our local and are willing to commit to the length of the term for these positions and won’t step out when the right salary job opens up for them.

Why do you want to be on the Senior Board?
I am running for a position on our Senior Board for multiple reasons. Our Senior board is not just our negotiating committee for the Lockheed Martin CBA, but it currently also handles the grievances for Lockheed Martin when they get to that level. I want to be one of the negotiators fighting for our members during our next contract negotiations and I want to help our business rep work out resolutions for the many grievances we have back logged.
What are your goals if you become a member of the Senior Board?
Negotiations are something that the board has to prepare for, and it takes a lot of time and commitment well before the negotiations actually start. I have read through all of the contracts that our local has for the different companies, and I have read through the CBA for our fellow Lockheed employees that are at Edward’s AFB as they are part of the Fort Worth Local, and I have stayed up to date with the Boeing negotiations that have been taking place. These are all things that help us prepare for negotiating for ourselves. Knowing what other companies are giving and what other unions are fighting for helps us create a great foundation. We also have our contract that can be read over and over, and each time we may find something different that needs to be changed or improved upon. We need to get rid of those grey areas that the company finds and get rid of those loopholes for example that have kept 3/12s from getting proper pay for holidays, vacation, and bereavement. Also, as a woman there are things in our contract I offer a different point of view on that will be very pertinent in us fighting for our work/life balance.
Why should the membership choose you over the other candidates?
The membership should vote for me over other candidates because I offer a fresh perspective on what we are fighting for. I will re-iterate what I said in my, why you should vote for me for Vice President. Every member should be voting for their Senior Board with knowledge of whom they are voting on. Read the Bios, come to the meetings and meet us, ask the nominees questions, and then when it is time to vote don’t just vote for someone because you know they already held that position or they have years of service with company. Vote for the best fit for the job.
