Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

Day 3 began with a video about the Air Transport Territory.

After some more guest speakers from the New York area, we moved on to more business of voting on more resolutions.

We then had another guest speaker from New York, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries. He spoke of his past and how Unions shaped his life. From Union wages paying for the house, he grew up in his college being paid for by a loan against his mother’s Union Negotiated Pension. He continued to address all the bills and acts he worked with the Biden Administration to get passed. From the SAVE Act to the Inflation Reduction Act, he worked to get these bills passed.

We then continued after a break with more Resolutions to vote on.

We followed with another guest speaker, Executive Vice President, SAG-AFTRA Linda Powell spoke next. She spoke of her time in the Union. She spoke of the SAG Strike and how the time she spent on the picket line. Walked along the line with the Writers Guild. She spoke passionately about how so many Unions from around the country fought in support of their movement.

After the lunch recess, we began with Organizing Director Mike Evan. Mike started by addressing issues we as a Union experience when we try and organize new shops. More specifically Union Busting. This led to a video prepared for the GLC.

Brother Mike then introduced a panel of Organizing Reps where they began a round table discussion about Union Busting and tactics companies use to keep Unions out.

After a short break, we began with the Southern Territories inspirational video.

Next, we heard a motivational speech from CBTU President Terry Melvin. Terry is also the secretary-treasurer of the New York State AFL-CIO. To read what the IAM wrote about his speech click the link below.
