Upcoming Bylaw Amendments

Greeting Brothers and Sisters,

Every year our Membership of the Local Lodge has the opportunity to make proposals to amend our Local’s Bylaws. Below we will go through this process and rules as defined by our Local Lodge Bylaws and our IAM Constitution for how the process will operate.

Bylaw Amendments

As written in our Bylaws, Article XII, Section 1.

Any other amendments to these bylaws must be handled on the basis of the following procedures:

  • (A) All proposals must be in submitted, signed by no less than five (5) members in good standing. Proposals must have date, names printed, signed and employee/union card number. Proposals must be submitted at the March meeting, and referred to a Bylaws Committee.

  • (B) Must be read as proposed at two (2) consecutive meetings (April and May). Immediately following the second reading, the Bylaws Committee shall submit their recommendations and submit the bylaws for voting.

  • (C) Reasonable advance notice must be given to the membership of the time, date and place of the second reading, and vote to be taken on the Bylaws Committee's recommendations.

  • (D) Each proposal must be considered and voted upon separately. A majority affirmative vote by those present and voting is needed for adoption.

  • (E) Triplicate copies of approved proposals, together with the master copy of bylaws shall be referred to the International President for approval and designation of an effective date.


In other terms,

  • All proposals for changes to our Bylaws must be submitted and signed by no less than five (5) members in good standing.

  • All Proposals submitted must have

    • Date.

    • Names printed and signed.

    • Employee/union card number.

  • All Proposals must be submitted at the March Meetings and referred to the Bylaws Committee.

  • Proposals will be read “as proposed” at the next two (2) consecutive meetings in both April and May.

  • After the second reading in May, the Bylaws Committee will submit their recommendations for each proposal and then each proposal will be submitted for voting.

  • Each proposal must be considered and voted upon separately.

  • A simple majority affirmative vote by those present and voting at the meeting is needed for adoption.

  • If approved, triplicate copies of the approved proposals, together with the master copy of bylaws shall be referred to the International President for final approval and designation of an effective date.

  • Notice will be given to the membership of the time, date, and place of the second reading and vote to be taken on the Bylaws Committee's recommendations.
