June Union Meeting Summary.

Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

Welcome to the summery of our June’s Day Shift and 2nd Shift Member’s Meeting.

Our Day Shift Meeting began promptly at 16:00. Our 2nd Shift Meeting began 13:03.

We started the with The Pledge of Allegiance which led us into our standard protocol with an E-Board Roll Call.

Following roll call, Brother James had informed us that we had no visitors or guests and we also had verification of quorum.

Sister Patricia read us the past minutes of our last meeting. That can be read by clicking the button below.

Next, Brother Brett gave us the Secretary Treasurer report and reported our bills which we agreed to pay.

Sister Patricia brought a communication from the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center about building a Veteran’s Monument. The IAM is going to be installing a Veteran’s Monument in Hollywood Maryland. Their communication was for the acceptance of donations. This would be proposed in our New Business.

Next, we moved to Reports from the E-Board

Brother Luis started with thanking everyone for showing up and reminded everyone we are cancelling the July Members Meeting and we will see everyone in August.

Brother Gerald started with informing everyone we ordered new shirts. Red shirts to help support veterans that will be available for sale. We also ordered more of the local shirts we all wear every Wednesday. He also brought up about the bid period and that it would run until June 21st. Lastly, he also brought up about the closing early of Gate 2 which has been causing people to be late. He has addressed it with security but make sure you make it to work early enough to account for the situations that could cause you to be late.

Brother Vic brought up about the bid period as well and to make sure your resume has the basic qualifications for the jobs you are bidding for. Make sure you check the job discriptions and have your resume meet those qualifications.

We moved to Reports from Committees

We had a report from the members who attended the Cal Conference. One of the big things was a collaboration with the Teamsters Union to try and expand unionization across the state. For more information contact Brother Vic.

Next we moved to reports from the Business Representatives

Brother Richard started by stating the steward training is cancelled for this month. Chief Steward Nominations are open until July 3rd. Before July 3rd, submit your nominations. Next, he moved to On-boarding and the amount of new people coming in. On Wednesday 6/7, we signed the new contract so be expecting the printed copies soon. Grievances meetings were had yesterday 6/6 and they will continue next week with the senior board for step 3. He then wanted to move to a lot of terminations and suspensions pending an investigation. If you see your brothers or sisters maybe doing something wrong, speak up with those individuals before Lockheed gets involved. One of the biggest areas of discipline we’ve been seeing is under attendance. The contract is black and white and very difficult to defend you when it’s an attendance violation. Make sure you are at work and on time.

Next, Brother Edwin didn’t have too much to share. Pratt and Whittney they are just polishing the job descriptions and then their CBAs will be ready to print. Also, negotiations with Vertex are coming up in the next few months.

Now we moved onto Good and Welfare.

Good and Welfare at Day Shift’s Meeting didn’t bring any questions. 2nd Shift’s Meeting, we talked about the 401k and people being written up for attendance.

Lastly…

We had our 50/50 drawing which was to win a backpack with the proceeds being donated to the Guide Dogs of America.

We had our raffle drawings for a prize (Tee-Shirt).

We had a motion to start donated to the Veteran’s Monument.

We had a motion to start a Veteran’s Committee.

We had a motion to accept August’s Callouts which were accepted.

We had a motion to get a new computer for the Local Executive Board which was accepted.

We also had 2 withdrawal cards which were accepted.

And with that we adjourned Day Shift’s Meeting at 17:00 and 2nd Shift’s Meeting ending at 14:05 with many members staying behind to talk with your E-Board after the meeting…

Remember, stand strong and stand together,

In Solidarity,

See you at our next meeting.
